I’m Pregnant! | Baby Gilbert Arriving January 2020

personal

We have the best news: Baby Gilbert is on the way!  I cannot believe I’m here typing and sharing this news with everyone. We are so over-the-moon excited for our new bundle of joy arriving next year.  We have both dreamed of being parents our entire lives and it just seems so very surreal to announce that we are pregnant! This baby is so very loved and a precious gift from above.

I’ve had a ton of questions when I’ve shared that I’m pregnant so the most asked questions are answered below for those who are interested.

pregnany annoucement january 2020 baby

How far along are you and when are you due?  I am 14 weeks today and am due 1/27! We are so thankful this little squish is due in the off season so I have time to recover and time to spend together learning parenthood when the months are calm and we can snuggle up by the fire.

How did you tell Seth? The morning I found out I was pregnant was also the same day that I was hit with the most awful stomach bug. I was violently ill with a fever and chills and knew that this was definitely not pregnancy symptoms. Seth came home from his hunting cabin and I told him that he needed to take me to the urgent care immediately as I was lying in bed barely able to move.  While he was gone he received a package in the mail he had been waiting for so I told him to open it up before we left. Inside I had placed the onesie below that I had bought in 2018 in hopes of this moment. Sadly it wasn’t the vision I had in my head of us hugging and jumping around in excitement together due to my stomach illness, but it was still one of the single greatest moments in our lives. Seth kept asking, “are you serious?!” and once he calmed down he replied, “But I didn’t get you anything!” It is truly the sweetest memory.

How are you feeling? Without sugar coating anything – I’ve been feeling pretty awful. Pregnancy is SO much harder than I ever could’ve imagined even after reading and doing tons of research. Every body who has ever gone through a pregnancy is a super hero in my mind.  I have been pretty sick all day from 6 weeks on with nausea, vomiting, stomach pains, food aversions, headaches, fatigue and a bunch of other weird symptoms. I would wake up in the morning and the only thing I could focus on was the moment I could climb back into bed at the end of the day.  I simply don’t feel like myself. Thankfully we are now in the second trimester and I’ve only heard good things! I’ve had a few good days last week and I’m hoping that “second trimester magic” kicks in fully soon!

And a sweet shout out to my husband because I could not have survived these last several months without Seth.  He has been doing all of the house chores, laundry, cooking, taking care of me and just telling me to rest constantly. He has never complained once and I am forever grateful for his support on this journey!

Are your families excited? Yes!! This is the first grandchild on both sides of our families so they are ecstatic! Seth’s dad cried for 10 straight minutes and my mom has already been buying tons of things for us.

Are you going to find out the gender?  Absolutely! If you know anything about me it’s that I am a type A planner and I will be needing to know.  🙂

Do you have a preference?  No – neither of us have a preference. We are so, so excited to be welcoming a little one next year whether they are a girl or a boy and we just can’t wait to find out and watch them grow.

Are you just so excited? This is the sweetest question and one I love to answer! YES! Absolutely! We talk about this little babe all day, everyday and can’t wait to see how life changes when they are along for the journey!!

Do you have any names picked out? Will you share the name before you give birth? We have thrown around some options, but we haven’t settled on any names.  I’m not sure if we will share the name or not beforehand.

Are you showing? I don’t think so – not yet.

Are you going to document your pregnancy? I certainly won’t be doing weekly ‘bumpdates’ or anything like that, but I will share what feels comfortable.

Do you have any cravings? Not yet. I would say I have more food aversions than anything else. I truly have to find something for each meal that really sounds good before I dive in.
